WEXFORD MORTGAGE BROKER ADMITS ROLE IN FRAUD CASE
A mortgage broker from County Wexford and a former County Wicklow solicitor have admitted their roles in a case of fraud.
The pair have been remanded on continuing bail for sentencing next week over forged and falsified documents which were used to borrow over 900-thousand euro from two financial institutions.
55 year-old Mary Miley from Duncairn Avenue in Bray and 66 year-old Noel Ryan from Ballynapierce, Enniscorthy in Co Wexford are due to be sentenced next week.
The Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard they took out loans using false documents to develop property, but the money is now gone.
Mary Miley – a mother-of-two – took out four loans with two financial institutions between 2006 and 2008.
The court heard she got involved in the development of property and used a passport in a false name for two of the loans and a driving licence in someone else’s name for another.
Her co-accused Noel Ryan was a carpenter who became a mortgage broker after his shop-fitting company in Wexford went out of business.
The court heard he submitted two of the fraudulent loans and acted as an aider or abettor because he knew Miley was using a false name.
Both were remanded on continuing bail for sentencing next week.
