WEXFORD FIANNA FAIL COUNCILLOR MICHAEL SHEEHAN WON’T CONTEST ELECTION
Fianna Fail councillor Michael Sheehan has announced his decision not to contest the general election.
The New Ross man has made no secret of the fact that he is not on the Fianna Fail ticket in the county.
After a lot of consideration he’s decided not to run as an Independent candidate.
In a statement issued this morning Michael Sheehan said the last few weeks had been very difficult for him and the local Fianna Fail organisation – who are still reeling from the selection process at the convention.
He said he feels personally shafted by Fianna Fail headquarters in Dublin.
Despite securing over 60 percent of the local delegate vote, the convention was clearly manipulated and with an agenda of which the New Ross area will bear the cost, he said.
However Michael Sheehan says it remains his ambition to eventually represent Wexford as a Fianna Fail TD in Dail Eireann.
