WEXFORD COUNTY COUNCIL FAILS TO HAVE SOCIAL HOUSING SITES TAKEN OVER BY GOVERNMENT SCHEME
Wexford County Council has been turned down to have three social housing sites it purchased taken over under a government scheme.
The council spent just over half a million euro on the sites that houses were never built on.
The National Housing Agency purchases such sites from councils to alleviate their financial burden.
However a number of councils have had their applications rejected and in the case of Wexford two of the three sites were not zoned for housing and were deemed unsuitable for the scheme.
