WEXFORD ACCOUNTANT FAILS TO HAVE PROFESSIONAL BAN OVERTURNED
A County Wexford accountant has failed to overturn his professional ban.
That’s after Alan Hynes had multiple findings of misconduct made against him.
Last year Alan Hynes was excluded from the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
It followed a tribunal after complaints from investors who’d lost over 18 million euro on his property ventures.
Much of the money was lost.
Among the tribunal’s findings were that Mr Hynes had breached the institutes code and that there were “unmitigated failures” and “unconscionable behaviour” in relation to his dealings with clients.
According to the Irish Times, an appeal tribunal threw out the Wexford man’s challenge to the originial ruling yesterday.
It’s understood the Chartered Accountants Regulatory Board will meet today to decide on a number of issues, including costs.
At the original hearing, it was ruled that Mr Hynes should pay 500,000 euro of the costs associated with the inquiry.
