WATERFORD MURDER ACCUSED APPEARS BEFORE COURT
A 33 year old man has appeared at a special sitting of Waterford District Court charged with the murder of a man who was found fatally stabbed at a Tramore Apartment late Thursday night.
Tadgh Butler with an address at 30 Seafield Tramore was arrested at the scene at the Seafield Holiday complex on Thursday night, and questioned by Gardai on Friday.
He was charged shortly before 2am this morning with the murder of 25 year old Michael O’Dwyer and brought by Gardai to today’s special sitting of the District court.
He was remanded in custody and will appear in court again in Waterford on Tuesday.
He was granted free legal aid by Judge Kevin Staunton in court.
The judge also agreed to a request that Mr Butler be psychiatrically assessed and monitored while in prison.
The victim Michael O’Dwyer was originally from the Newpark area of Kilkenny City but moved to Stoneyford with his family in 2011.
