WATERFORD CITY COUNCIL ANNOUNCE 20 PER CENT REDUCTION IN COMMERCIAL RATES
Waterford City and County Councils were given a 4.3 million euro increase in their local government fund to offset the costs of their amalgamation which takes place in May.
Following the revaluation process – this money has been used to lower commercial rates in Waterford city to meet the Dungarvan level.
Mayor of Waterford is Fine Gael Councillor John Cummins.
He says a number of factors including amalgamation efficiencies, additional income from the newly established Irish Water and a significant increase in local government fund have allowed them to reduce rates by 20 per cent.
