WATER CHARGES
The Taoiseach and Tánaiste will be looking to end the coalition stand-off over water charges later.
The Economic Management Council will meet later in a bid to agree a new set of proposals on the final cost and standing charge which will be brought before Cabinet tomorrow.
Labour has been seeking to have both elements of the charge reduced, as well as a faster programme of meter installations.
Political Editor Shane Coleman says Fine Gael sources are accusing Labour of stalling.
“Senior people in Fine Gael believe Labour are being disingenuous on this – that this was all done and dusted about six weeks ago, is what I’m told, and that than the Labour Party got nervous because of opinion polls and because of various factors” he said.
“Now Labour say absolutely not true – they say certain key issues were not sorted out” he added.
