Up to 150 thousand homes could be powered by solar energy – under new plans to be unveiled today.
Bord na Mona and ESB projects want to develop four large solar farms in Roscommon, Offaly and Kildare.
They will be located on land that was previously used as peat bogs.
Minister Denis Naughten – who will officially launch the plans this afternoon – says it makes sense.
