Donald Trump has launched a fresh attack on the media – saying his task of making America great again “is not easy, especially when we’re also fighting the press”.
Less than a month after taking office, Mr Trump took the unusual step of returning to the campaign trail in Florida – announcing fresh plans to bring in his controversial travel ban within a few days.
Last week, judges ruled his order – blocking people from seven mostly Muslim nations – shouldn’t be in place because there’s no evidence it ‘ll stop terrorism.
But a senior US republican has defended the press against Donald Trump’s attacks – warning that suppressing the media is ‘how dictators get started’.
Senator John McCain – a former Republican presidential candidate – says the press is ‘vital’ to preserving democracy.
He was speaking after the US President accused outlets including ABC, NBC and CNN of being the ‘enemy of the American people’.
