Over 340 people gathered at the Ashdown Park Hotel, Gorey to celebrate those who excel in the hospitality industry in County Wexford at the South East Radio Hospitality Awards.
The listeners of South East Radio voted for their favourite pub, restaurant, hotel or tourist attraction. A short list from every sector was formed with each receiving a visit from our panel of esteemed judges.
A black tie event assured glamour and sparkle. A five course meal followed a drinks reception, and then it was time for the awards to begin. Alan Corcoran as Master of Ceremonies, invited individual category sponsors to award winners with their prestigious trophy. ‘The City and Us’ provided the music with Stacy Breen and Voice of Ireland Star Kayleigh Cullinan ensuring a great night’s entertainment.
2 special judge’s awards added to the excitement. Kate from Kates Coffee Shop and Deli Kilmuckridge received the Judges Rising Star award and Maura Bell, The Irish National Heritage Park, Ferrycarrig was awarded the Judges Special Merit Award.
The announcement of the star awards toasting the overall best wedding venue, pub, restaurant and hotel was the climax of the night. We applaud the winners of those categories. The Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy was awarded Wedding Venue of the year and the accolade of Overall Bar of the Year went to The Sky in the Ground, Wexford. The Overall Restaurant of the Year was awarded to The Duck at Marlfield House Hotel with Kelly’s Hotel, Rosslare being crowned the winner of the Overall Hotel of the Year award.
The awards ceremony recognised those in the hospitality sector that go the extra mile to serve the very best food, provide the best customer service or indeed give good value for money. The prestigious awards were extra special as the venues were nominated by our listeners. We are very proud to have hosted this wonderful event. Our thanks to this year’s host venue, The Ashdown Park Hotel Gorey, our sponsors and our listeners. Liam Dwyer, General Manager, South East Radio said “they were looking forward to doing it all again next year”.
