TAOISEACH TELLS BANKING INQUIRY FIANNA FAIL THE REASON IRISH PEOPLE SUFFERED
The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has gone on the attack at the Banking Inquiry, accusing Fianna Fáil of squandering the boom.
He told the Inquiry that the previous government had allowed Ireland to become “bloated, over-borrowed and uncompetitive”.
The Inquiry is hearing from the current government this morning, to discuss the policies they put forward in opposition.
But Mr Kenny says the mismanagement of Fianna Fáil is the reason why Irish people suffered so badly.
“Their dreams turned into a complete nightmare, as boom and bust and as stability was replaced by policy recklessness and regulatory failures” he said.
“The lion’s share of the damage…done to the Irish economy was the fault of domestic, economic and financial mis-management” he added.
