SPORT: WEXFORD U21 FOOTBALLERS THROUGH TO LEINSTER QUARTER FINAL
The Wexford U21 football team qualified for the Leinster quarter final last night.
That’s after they beat Longford in St Patrick’s Park.
David Power’s side started brightly and had the opening two scores on the board within 10 minutes but Longford fought back.
The visitors had a 2-01 to 5 points lead at the break but the last part of the second half was all Wexford – taking the game by 14 points to 2-05.
It was just the second win for the team in the Leinster Championship since they took the title in 2011.
Wexford will take on Westmeath in the quarter final in St Patrick’s Park next Wednesday night.
