SPORT: WEXFORD SHOWJUMPER SECURES PLACE AT THE OLYMPICS
A Wexford man’s place at this year’s Olympics has been confirmed.
Bertram Allen has secured an individual show jumping spot for the games.
The Enniscorthy native’s ticket to Brazil was confirmed last night by the international equestrian governing body, the FEI.
It followed the March 6th cut-off date for the Olympic rankings.
Ireland will also be represented in Rio by an eventing team.
However, the Irish show jumping team won’t compete in Brazil, after they narrowly missed out on a place in controversial circumstances last year.
