SPORT: SUCCESS FOR WEXFORD’S FOOTBALLERS BUT HURLERS LOSE OUT TO LIMERICK
There were mixed fortunes for Wexford’s Hurlers and Footballers in Innovate Wexford Park yesterday.
The Senior Hurlers lost out by a single point to Limerick – in division 1B of the allianz league – which now puts a huge dent in their promotion prospects.
It ended Wexford 3-18 – Limerick 4-16.
The Senior Footballers forced a hard earned one point win over Limerick to secure their first points in the Allianz National Football League Division 3.
Three late superb long range frees from Ben Brosnan guaranteed the win.
Wexford are still bottom with of the table on two points with Limerick and Sligo – whom Wexford must travel to play next Sunday.
Elsewhere the Wexford Senior Camogie team started their League campaign with a hard earned victory away to Offaly.
2- 4 to 8 points the final score.
Jackie Quigley and Aine Leacy scored the goals but the team was without the Oulart the Ballagh contingent who were rested after winning the Club All Ireland last weekend.
