SPORT: SHEFFLIN THANKS THOSE WHO’VE SUPPORTED HIM AS HE ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
Henry Shefflin has thanked his family, friends and Brian Cody upon officially anouncing his retirement from the Kilkenny hurling squad.
The 36 year old who’s won 10 All Irelands with Kilkenny and 3 with Ballyhale Shamrocks collected 11 All stars throughout a glittering careerer.
The forward says he will continue to play with his club.
Wexford hurling manager Liam Dunne once played with Shefflin on a railway cup team.
He says he’s been a great leader and compared him to Paul O’Connell and what he’s done for Ireland.
Dunne says he certaintly won’t be missed by Wexford on the field but says he’s probably been the greatest player he’s seen.
