SPORT: NIKE SUSPENDS RELATIONSHIP WITH SHARAPOVA AFTER FAILED DRUGS TEST
Nike, one of Maria Sharapova’s main sponsors, has suspended it’s relationship with the player after she admitted failing a drugs test.
The former world number one’s been provisionally suspended from this weekend after testing positive for meldonium at the Australian Open.
Nike says it will continue to monitor the situation while the investigation continues.
The 28-year-old says that she had first been prescribed the drug for health reasons in 2006.
But she accepts responsibility for not realising that the substance was added to the WADA banned list at the start of this year.
