SPORT: IRISH WOMEN’S UNDER 19S PROGRESS TO LAST FOUR AT EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Irish Women’s Under-19s soccer team are through to the semi-finals at the European Championships.
Dave Connell’s side have continued their superb performances this month in Norway after a 2-1 win over Sweden saw them finish top of Group B with three wins from three games.
The Irish side had to come from a goal down but a header from Savannah McCarthy and a brilliant free-kick from Megan Connolly secured their progress to the last-four.
Wexford Youths defender Lauren Dwyer also played a key role in the game
After topping their Group, Ireland will now face the Netherlands in their semi-final clash on Thursday evening.
The other last-four match-up will see tournament hosts Norway taking-on Spain, who finished runners-up to Ireland in Group B after a 2-0 win over England.
