SPORT: HURLING 2020 REVIEW COMMITTEE PRESENT REPORT
A player shown two yellow cards could be replaced, instead of sent-off, if the new proposals by the GAA’s Hurling 2020 Review Committee are taken on-board.
The committee, headed by Liam Sheedy, has presented it’s report to the GAA today.
One of the 15 proposed rule changes would see a player being automatically replaced after being shown two yellow cards during a game – instead of his side being reduced to 14 men.
The committee is also seeking to introduce squad numbers for teams in the Liam McCarthy Cup as well as making one-on-one penalties a permanent fixture.
Also recommended is the abolishment of promotion / relegation play-offs in the league and between the winners of the Christy Ring cup and bottom side in the Leinster round robin series.
