SPORT: FIFA INVESTIGATES GERMANY BEING AWARDED 2006 WORLD CUP
FIFA’s ethics committee has opened formal proceedings regarding Germany being awarded the 2006 World Cup.
Among the individuals being investigated are Franz Beckenbauer, the former World Cup-winning player and manager, who’s an ex-vice president of the German FA.
He was also on FIFA’s executive committee.
The body says it will “investigate possible undue payments” which might have gained an advantage in the host selection for the event.
