SITUATION OF KILMORE QUAY FISHERMEN DESCRIBED AS DESPERATE
Kilmore Quay fishermen have been badly hit in recent times on a number of fronts.
Many had abandoned fishing operations while the search for their colleague Paddy Barry continued.
Then the weather turned foul which kept trawlers moored on the quayside.
Now the situation for many is desperate according to Wexford County Councillor Tony Dempsey.
He met with a group of fishermen in the fishing village on Monday.
Councillor Dempsey has called for a solidarity fund in the E.U to be made available to the fishermen as they have been left without an income for several weeks and are self employed and therefore can not claim the dole.
