SINN FEIN COULD BE EXCLUDED FROM THE NORTHERN IRELAND ASSEMBLY
Detectives investigating the murder of Kevin McGuigan in Belfast last week have arrested a 60-year-old man in the east of the city.
It comes after the PSNI said the Provisional IRA may have been involved in the murder.
Democratic Unionist Party MP Jeffery Donaldson says he believes there are people in Sinn Féin who know who committed the murder.
He says a denial by Sinn Féin undermines public credibility and confidence in the Northern Ireland Assembly.
“I believe that there are people in Sinn Fein who know who committed this murder” he said.
“If they come forward and give that information to the police and help to convict those who were responsible for this murder, then that’s one matter”.
“But if they deny that this was the action of mainstream republicans, when the police say that it is, well I’m afraid that just totally undermines credibility and public confidence in the government” he added.
