SINN FEIN CALLS ON ENVIRONMENT MINISTER TO RESIGN OVER HANDLING OF IRISH WATER

Gerry Adams says Phil Hogan must be responsible for the amount that the new utility company is spending on consultants.

Earlier Minister Hogan said he was not aware of the 86 million bill for outside contractors – saying it is up to Irish Water itself to account for its spending.

Deputy Adams says Minister Hogan has lurched from one scandal to another and needs to step down:

“He’s been involved in too many debacles, he talks about not micro-managing this issue – it’s just incredible”.

“85 million is not micro – it’s huge – and when you consider the money that’s been taken out of frontline services and citizens in need, this is just a step too far”.

“Phil Hogan should go” he added.
