SEVEN QUESTIONED OVER ALLEGED RAPE OF YOUNG GIRL
Seven people remain in Garda custody this morning as part of an investigation into allegations a young girl was raped by a number of men over a five year period.
The five men and two women were detained yesterday morning in Wexford and Dublin.
The offences are alleged to have taken place when the girl was aged between four and nine at her home in South County Dublin – she’s now ten years of age.
The girl was taken into care last year on the basis she had been neglected by her mother and while she in care the authorities became aware of the alleged sexual activity involving her.
The suspects include her mother and brother. Six of the suspects are eastern european while the seventh is a British National.
The five men – who range in age from 19 to 47 – and two women – who are in their forties – were detained yesterday morning in Dublin and Wexford.
They’re being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
