PARADE PLANNED FOR WEXFORD SPECIAL OLYMPICS ATHLETES
Team Ireland arrived home to a heroes welcome at Dublin airport this morning.
The athletes taking part in the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles secured an impressive tally of 82 medals.
Two athletes from County Wexford are among the group and a parade is being planned at 3pm this afternoon in Gorey to welcome them home.
Fiona Hynes is from Special Olympics Ireland.
“Team Ireland have outdone themselves at the World Games in Los Angeles this summer” she said.
“They’re bringing home a grand total of 82 medals, whish is astonishing, and it’s a huge achievement for both the athletes and the management team and coaches who went to Los Angeles – obviously with dreams of great performances”.
“But the medals are an added bonus; there’s been a lot of placement ribbons, personal bests, and obviously life experiences for these athletes” she added.
