NEW SURVEY SHOWS HOUSEHOLDS IN THE SOUTH EAST THE RICHEST
The richest households in the country are in the south east.
That’s according to the latest Household and Finance Consumption Survey from the CSO.
The survey is one based on net wealth which relates to the wealth a household owns after taking account of all their debts.
Taking this into consideration the average net wealth of househods in County Wexford and across the south east is the highest in the country at 259,000 euro.
This compares to the lowest level of net wealth which is in the counties of Galway, Mayo and Roscommon at 186,000.
However the vast majority of total wealth in the country is in the Dublin region with just over 28 per cent of the total share given the big concentration of population there.
Next comes the south west with 15 per cent of the country’s wealth and in third place is the south east with 13 per cent.
The lowest concentration of net wealth in the country is in the midland counties of Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath with 7 per cent.
