NEW ROSS TO GET NEW FIRE STATION
New Ross is to get a new fire station.
The announcement is part of a 40 million euro programme to build 16 new stations and refurbish a further 10 across the country.
The other areas getting new fire stations are; Tuam, Kanturk, Virginia, Macroom, Cashel, Loughrea, Clonakilty, Ballyjamesduff, Manorhamilton, Kilmacthomas, Castleblayney, Urlingford, Nobber, Crossmolina and Dunleer.
It’s expected that the Wexford project will get approval to go to tender in 2018 – with delivery of the new building 1 to 2 years after that.
In further good news for New Ross, the sod was officially turned on the new bypass for the town today.
Work on the multi-million euro project is expected to get underway next month.
The 14 kilometre project has been years in the planning stage.
It will feature a three tower bridge over the River Barrow – the only one of its kind in the country.
