Its been revealed that a Wexford man suffered extreme conditions in a German concentration camp during World War 2.
Files released from the National Archives in Kew London show that a James Adlous Furlong was paid compensation by the British government for the effects of being held in the Bremen Farge concentration camp.
Mister Furlong who was born in Wexford was first held in a prisoner of war camp in Germany where he refused to work for the Nazis claiming he was from a neutral country.
He was then sent to the concentration camp and both witnessed and suffered horrendous abuse.
Following his release at the end of the war he lived in Cheshire and received compensation for his suffering in 1966.
