MANHUNT UNDERWAY FOLLOWING FRIDAY’S SHOOTING
An international manhunt’s continuing after Friday’s gangland style shooting in Dublin.
32-year-old David Byrne was killed and two others were injured in the attack at the Regency Hotel in Drumcondra.
At least six men are believed to have been involved, three of whom were dressed as gardaí.
Staff at the hotel are to receive counselling over the coming days following the shooting.
General manager John Glynn was in the reception area as 32-year-old David Byrne was gunned down.
“I think they got lost – they weren’t as prepared maybe as we thought they were” he said.
“They were looking for the weigh-in room – and they approached the door of the bar with two revolvers, fired two shots (that) went into the ceiling”.
“Then the other shouted ‘Where’s the weigh-in room?’ – and somebody in the crowd shouted next door, so they proceeded to go in next door”.
“I’m still lying on the ground of course; the fella beside me was dead which is a frightening experience”
