HSE WARNING AFTER PSYCHOACTIVE SUBSTANCE LEAVES TEENAGER CRITICAL
The HSE is warning against the use of party drug 2CB, which has reportedly left an 18-year-old in a critical condition in hospital in Cork.
A number of others were treated in hospital after apparently taking the psychoactive pill at a house in the city in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Dr Eamon Keenan is the HSE National Clinical Lead for Addiction Services.
He says 2CB has a significant effect on those who take it.
“It’s for all intense and purposes a stimulant drug – much like amphetamine – but the side effects from it are horrendous” he said.
“It’s taken by young people at parties; it’s got aphrodisiac effects and indeed it can cause very serve hallucinations – both auditory and visual” he added.
