HOMELESS MAN FOUND GUILTY OF KILLING ANOTHER MAN AFTER HE FELL UNDER A BUS
A homeless man has been found guilty of killing another man by punching him and causing him to fall under a Dublin bus in December 2012.
Eoghan Dudley was crushed to death after falling under the wheels of the bus at the corner of Nassau Street and Dawson Street.
Eoghan Dudley died almost instantly from “catastrophic and traumatic injuries” after going under the back wheel of the double-decker bus during rush hour traffic.
A total of seven eye witnesses told the court they saw Edward Connors throwing the punch that caused him to fall into its path.
Edward Connors denied this and claimed he was actually trying to grab him after he fell off the footpath.
Mr. Dudley had a cocktail of drugs in his system at the time and two experts told this trial that that could have caused him to become unstable on his feet.
But after four and a half hours of deliberating, the jurors returned with a unanimous guilty verdict this afternoon.
Edward Connors is deaf and needed a sign language interpreter to communicate today’s decision to him.
Judge Patrick McCartan then remanded him in custody and he’s due to be sentenced early next month.
