The Department of Education has given the green light for the extension and refurbishment of classrooms in Scoil Mhaodhóig, Poulfur.
The project will include the development of three mainstream classrooms, a Special Educational Teaching Room and a Special Education Needs classroom.
School principal Domini A Bn Ui Choda, has today welcomed the news and said that the extension was needed because of increasing school numbers and the changes in student to staff ratios introduced by the Government.
“We were delighted to receive the email yesterday to inform us of the substantial funding towards and extension of our beautiful school. It became apparent last year that we had to work towards an extension. We were offered porta-cabins but that wasn’t suitable so we stuck with it and now we are getting a solid structure build. We are now looking forward to starting the process and moving as quickly as we possibly can.”
