GREECE SET TO SUBMIT PROPOSALS FOR LATEST BAILOUT DEAL WITH TROIKA

Today is the day Greece must detail its plans on how to reform its economy, in return for a bailout extension from Europe.

Finance Minister Yannis Varoufakis will be hoping his proposals meet with approval from his international colleagues, and are enough to keep the country in the single currency.

Efforts to reform the Greek civil service and clamp down on tax evasion are reportedly in the works.

Reporter in Greece, Menalaos Tzafalias, says a lot of detail has yet to be revealed.

“Some of these reportedly have some costs added to them – something like 2 to 2.5 billion euros could be saved in a year from cigarette and fuel smuggling” he said.

“But as the Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis himself said last Friday, he said ‘as an economist I need all facts there to give you precise numbers'”.

“And right now it would be preposterous to say that all facts and numbers are there” he added.
