Gardai Believe Foul Play Involved In Cork Death

GARDAI BELIEVE FOUL PLAY INVOLVED IN CORK DEATH

Gardaí have confirmed there was foul play in the death of a man in north Cork at the weekend.

36-year-old Peter Murphy was found dead at his rented home in Shanavoher, just outside Mallow, on Saturday afternoon.

Gardaí say a post mortem has confirmed he died of injuries that were not self inflicted, but they will not reveal how he died.

They’re now trying to trace his final movements, and believe his last contact was when he rang his mother around 4pm on Thursday afternoon.

Superintendent of Mallow Garda Station is Pat McCarthy.

“The deceased had probably injuries to his body that we cannot explain” he said.

I’m appealing to any person who had seen the deceased, Peter Murphy, or been in contact with him between 2pm on Thursday the 5th of February and 1pm on Saturday the 8th of February – or maybe local people would ahve drove or walked past this route during that period of time and they may ahve noticed activity, suspicious or otherwise”.

“We would ask them to contact us” he added.
