EDUCATION MINISTER TO ATTEND ASTI CONFERENCE IN WEXFORD THIS AFTERNOON
Over four hundred secondary school teachers are in Wexford town for the annual conference of the ASTI.
One of the principal issues of concern to them is the number of part time and temporary teachers in the system which is at an all time high.
General secretary of the ASTI Pat King speaking to Alan Corcoran on South East Radio’s Morning Mix said it’s an unsatisfactory situation for many of it’s members with over 30 per cent of teachers temporary or part time.
The Minister for Education Ruairi Quinn will address the conference this afternoon.
This is the second year in succession that the ASTI has chosen Wexford as it’s conference venue which will take place until Thursday.
