COURT OF APPEAL QUASHES WEXFORD COUPLE’S NEGLECT CONVICTION
The Court of Appeal has quashed the convictions of a Wexford couple who were found guilty of killing a MS sufferer by neglect.
Evelyn Joel died in hospital after being removed from her daughter Eleanor’s home in January 2006.
Eleanor and her partner Jonathan Costen, both of Cluain Dara in Enniscorthy, were found guilty of manslaughter in March 2013.
Last October, they appealed their convictions on several grounds including the true cause of death and the refusal to move their retrial out of Wexford.
The pair were in court this afternoon to hear their appeal had been successful.
