COST BLAMED FOR STENA LINE’S DECISION TO DROP SOME IRISH SUPPLIERS
Stena Line say they terminated contracts with some of their Irish suppliers – including those from County Wexford – because of costs.
But the company who took over locally owned Celtic Link ferries on Tuesday say former suppliers will be able to pitch to them again when their next tender process begins.
Stena Line will now operate the service from Rosslare to Cherbourg – their first direct route from Ireland to the Continent.
They say they’ll now use centrally sourced supplies from their headquarters in Sweden.
Head of Communications with Stena Line Diane Poole told South East Radio’s Morning Mix that suppliers were informed by letter three weeks ago that there would be a review of supplies and that as a result some were let go.
