CONCERN RISING OVER MOUNTING TENSIONS BETWEEN SAUDI ARABIA AND IRAN
Concern is rising over mounting tensions between Gulf states Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Iranian diplomats have been told they have 48 hours to leave Saudi Arabia – after the Saudi embassy in Tehran was attacked on Saturday.
The riot followed the Saudi’s execution of prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr and 46 others – including the killer of Irish Journalist Simon Cumbers – on Saturday.
Professor Fawaz Gerges an expert on Middle East says we could be on the verge of all out war:
“Saudi Arabia is trying to send a message both domestically and regionally” he said.
“Domestically it will not basically tolerate any kind of political descent – and regionally, it’s all-out war with Iran” he added.
