CONCERN FOR SOUTH EAST FISHING INDUSTRY FOLLOWING EUROPEAN QUOTA AGREEMENT
A representative of fishermen in the South East says the fish quota agreements in Brussels for 2014 have left the region devasted.
Kathleen Ni Aodha from the Irish South and East Fish Producers Organisation says she’s frightened to put a figure on the revenue the industry in the region will lose as a result of the talks.
The Minister for the Marine Simon Coveney this week agreed the amount of fish allowed to be caught by Ireland’s fishermen during next year.
Kathleen Ni Aodha says other areas in the country have benefited while the South East has once again lost out.
