CO. WEXFORD BELOW NATIONAL AVERAGE FOR CAR SALES AT THE START OF 2015
County Wexford had the lowest increase in car sales in the country for the first three months of this year.
The figures are contained in the Quarter One Review of the motor industry carried out by the society of the Irish Motor Industry in association with Done Deal.
County Wexford recorded around half the national average for new car sales in the first quarter of this year.
The average increase in cars purchased across the country was over 26 per cent, while in Wexford the figure was around half that at just under 13 per cent, the lowest in the country
1,639 cars were purchased in County Wexford over the three month period, bringing the county in at number nine when it comes to total new cars bought.
Some 64,000 new cars were bought across the country in the first quarter of this year, a total that surpasses the entire year’s purchases during the depths of the recession.
Longford recorded the biggest increase in car purchases followed by Wicklow, Louth and Leitrim in the first three months of this year.
