CENTRAL BANK PREDICTS GROWTH ACROSS ALL SECTORS OF EMPLOYMENT MARKET
The Central Bank says the recovery on the jobs front is set to pick up the pace this year.
It is predicting labour market growth of 2.6 percent in 2014 – up from 2 percent last year.
The figures come in the latest quarterly bulletin of the Central Bank which forecasts economic growth of 2 percent this year and 3.2 per cent in 2015.
Head of Economic Analysis John Flynn says he predicts growth across all sectors of the employment market.
“Growth in employment has been very broadly based, so we’re seeing growth pretty much across the board at this point” he said.
“On the basis of the better recent data and what we’ve seen in the last couple of quarters…we’ve raised our estimate of the rise in employment fro 2014 from 2 percent to 2.6 percent”.
“So that’s up a bit from the last forecast” he added.
