BOTH SIDES WON’T BUDGE IN BUS EIREANN STRIKE DISPUTE

Hopes are fading that both sides in the Bus Éireann dispute can reach an agreement.

The NBRU and SIPTU are pressing ahead with Monday’s all-out-strike, which is set to affect 100 thousand passengers a day.

But the company insists its cost saving measures are necessary to prevent it becoming insolvent by May.

It’s calling on the unions to engage in further talks at the Workplace Relations Commission – but the NBRU’s Dermot O’Leary believes the two sides are too far apart to reach a deal at this stage.
