Cllr. Barbara-Anne Murphy, Ballinavocran, Bunclody, Enniscorthy, first elected to Wexford Co. Council in 2004, I have served as a member of Wexford Co. Council for 15 years representing the people of the Enniscorthy Municipal District (2004 – 2009 & 2014 – date)

I have been involved in my local community from my teenage years, for example serving as secretary of Bunclody Tidy Towns and Chairperson of Half-Way-House / Bunclody GAA Club, Bunclody St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Bunclody Christmas Lights, Bunclody Swimming Pool committees, Enniscorthy North Business Park among others, and School Boards of Management including Enniscorthy Community College, Kilmyshall N.S., and Bunclody Vocational College.

Serving my local community is something I learned from my late parents, Rory & Nancy Murphy and that commitment to serve and improve services and quality of life for the people in the area is a priority for me.

Priorities:

· PROMOTE AND SUPPORT THE LOCAL AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECTOR

· COMMUNITY FACILITIES for All AGES, EQUIPMENT, FACILITIES, PARKS, ALLOTTMENTS & PLAY AREAS

· COMBAT LITTER & FLY TIPPING IN OUR SCENIC DISTRICT

· PROMOTE BUNCLODY TO FULFILL ITS POTENTIAL LOCALLY AND NATIONALLY

· ATTRACT QUALITY JOBS TO THE DISRICT

· EXPAND AND DEVELOP THE TOURISM OFFERING IN THE AREA

· ROAD IMPROVEMENTS ACROSS THE DISTRICT

· FOOTPATH IMPROVEMENTS IN TOWNS AND VILLAGES

· CLIMATE ACTION PLAN – WORKING TO COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE

· DEVELOP ENNISCORTHY TOWN AS AN ATTRACTIVE AND VIBRANT TOWN TO SHOP, VISIT AND DO BUSINESS

 

My Achievements include:

Cathaoirleach Wexford County Council 2021 – 2022 and Enniscorthy Municipal District 2020-2021

Chairperson Waterford Wexford Education & Training Board 2019 – 2024

Road, footpath improvements & safety measures at schools throughout the district

Supporting Festivals, Sporting & Community Groups

Improved and expanded Local Link bus routes – Kilmyshall, Ballindaggin, Kiltealy, Clohamon, Castledockrell, Marshalsown, Ferns

Established Enniscorthy District Meals on Wheels volunteer service

Completion of Senan House, Ireland’s first passive commercial office building

IDA contract for advance factory at Enniscorthy

New Training Kitchen at FET centre, Ryland Road, Bunclody

Restoration of the lime tree lined Mall stream and amenity area at Bunclody

Actively supporting education, training & apprenticeships
