WEXFORD HOUSEHOLDS RECEIVE NOTIFICATION OF EXCESS LEAD LEVELS IN THEIR WATER
A number of households in Wexford town have received notification of excess lead levels in their domestic water supply.
They have been asked to let the water run for a number of minutes before use for consumption.
The lead piping was used in homes built before the 1970’s and a grant scheme is to be introduced shortly to help households replace this piping.
Mayor of Wexford Councillor George Lawlor says the issue is being highlighted by Irish Water and is mainly due to a reduction in the amount of lead contamination that is acceptable in water.
