TALKS BETWEEN UNIONS AND GOVERNMENT ON PUBLIC SECTOR PAY RESUME
Public Sector pay talks have resumed at the Labour Relations Commission.
Unions and government officials adjourned talks at 2am this morning with a deal almost over the line.
Workers would get a 1,000 euro pay rise next year in return for further reforms and changes to work practices.
It is understood some last minute hitches arose on costing.
Industry correspondent with the Irish Times, Martin Wall, says trade unions were becoming frustrated in the early hours.
“There were a lot of frustrations at what was actually going on – they believe that a deal was within reach, but it hasn’t actually got across the line as of yet” he said.
“It’s still very well may do this morning, but there appear to be some last minute hitches on the government side”.
“Presumably they will be ironed out if there is going to be a deal, and that will be ironed out at some stage this morning” he added.
