5 PATIENTS DIAGNOSED WITH SUSPECTED CANCER AT WEXFORD GENERAL AFTER RECALL
At least five patients have been diagnosed with suspected cancer at Wexford General Hospital after 270 were recalled for a second opinion last February.
The recall was prompted by the quality of the original colonoscopy tests they had received.
This in turn has now prompted a doubling of the number of patients that are having their colonoscopies redone, with an additional 210 patients being recalled.
Consultant Surgeon at Wexford General Ken Mealy says all of these patients have been contacted.
He says the problem arises from one individual but he’s not at liberty to divulge who that is until the process is complete.
