MILITARY REPORT INTO WEXFORD MAN’S DEATH AMENDED
The parents of Captain David Jevens from Glynn in County Wexford have won their battle to have the military report into their son’s death amended.
Captain David Jevens was killed on October 12th 2009 when the two seater Air Corps training plane he was in crashed in County Galway.
David Jevens parents Donal and Liz were not happy with the findings of the military court of inquiry into their son’s death.
It was published in January 2013 and they said it was damaging to his military character.
They sought to remove what they stated to be false evidence and serious inconsistencies in the report.
The then Minister for Justice Alan Shatter defended the report and ruled out any further investigation.
Now the Department of Defence has confirmed that remarks by the Defence Forces Chief of Staff has been added to the report.
The Department stated that these remarks satisfactorily addressed matters of particular concern to Captain Jevens parents.
They are now happy that the amendment to the military report removes any damage that may have been caused to their late son’s professional reputation.
