JURY TO BE SELECTED FOR FORMER ANGLO CHAIRMAN’S TRIAL TOMORROW
Former Anglo Irish Bank chairman Sean Fitzpatrick will go on trial next Monday accused of failing to disclose the true value of bank loans.
A jury was due to be empanelled today but Judge Mary Ellen Ring put the selection process back until tomorrow.
The 66 year old from Greystones, Co Wicklow is facing charges that he failed to disclose to auditors Ernst and Young the true value of loans worth around 139 million euro.
The loans were allegedly given by Irish Nationwide to him or people connected to him on dates between 2002 and 2007 while he was an officer of Anglo Irish Bank.
The charges are brought under Section 197 of the 1990 Companies Act.
Sean FitzPatrick was in court this morning.
He is due to be arraigned tomorrow morning after which jury selection will take place.
He is being defended by Senior Counsel Bernard Condon.
The trial is expected to last 6 weeks but could stretch to 8 weeks.
