Sport: West Ham Beat Everton Following Penalty Shoot-out

SPORT: WEST HAM BEAT EVERTON FOLLOWING PENALTY SHOOT-OUT

West Ham came out on-top of an epic penalty shoot-out against 10-man Everton to secure their progress to the fourth-round of the FA Cup.

In normal time Ireland international Aiden McGeady was sent off after 56 minutes before Valencia scored for West Ham.

Mirallas drew the game level with a free kick before Romelu Lukaku gave the Toffee’s the lead in extra time however Carlton Cole equalised to send the match to penalties.

There was 20 penalties taken during the shoot-out before Hammers goalkeeper, Adrían scored the decisive goal to help his side to a 9-8 win.

West ham’s win sets up a fourth-round trip to Bristol City, who beat Doncaster 2-0.

Fulham also needed spot-kicks to win their tie, as they got past Wolves, and will now play Sunderland.

Chesterfield’s 2-0 win over Scunthorpe earned them a game with Derby.
