SPORT: WEXFORD FOOTBALLERS OVERCOME CARLOW IT
An experimental Wexford Senior Football Team had a goal to spare at the end of their Bord na Mona O’Byrne Cup match with Carlow IT last night in St Patrick’s Park.
They were leading 1-5 to 4 points at half time with the goal coming from Dermot Flood with 2 points from Niall Hughes.
Kevin O’ Connor and Kevin O’Grady scored the others.
Carlow IT did come back in the 2nd half but Wexford were able to keep the scoreboard ticking over with 2 points from Kevin O’Grady and Declan Murphy and a point each from Dermot Flood, Graham Carthy, Simon Donohoe and Ben Brosnan.
Tipperary’s Liam Boland and Barry McHugh from Galway were Carlow IT’s top scorers.
The Final score 1-13 to 13 points
Wexford play Wicklow in their final group match on Sunday in Gorey and DIT ‘s win over Wicklow last night means that they have won the group.
