At last Monday night’s Wexford GAA County Convention and in a subsequent interview with the Wexford People, Micheál Martin, the Chairman of Wexford GAA stated that the organisation had submitted a formal complaint to Coimisiún na Meán about South East Radio broadcasts.
However, the media regulator clarified matters today by stating “Coimisiún na Meán does not have any outstanding complaints regarding South East Radio. On August 18 last, An Coimisiún na Meán received correspondence from Wexford GAA regarding broadcasts of the station’s Morning Mix programme on July 17 and 18 2023. We outlined to Wexford GAA the complaints process and information required as part of this process. We then requested confirmation from Wexford GAA by October 20 as to whether they wished to proceed with the matter. As no such confirmation was received, the matter is now considered closed.”
It has since been reported that the Wexford GAA Chairman, Micheál Martin has responded by stating “On contacting Coimisiún na Meán yesterday, we were made aware of correspondence sent to our offices on October 16, which went unseen and was not responded to. He said that he was “totally taken aback” that the matter had been closed and has since been in touch with An Coimisiún to ask them to re-activate and deal with their complaints.
